Volunteers sought for countywide waterways cleanup

Environmental organization expands annual cleanup to include inland waterways and parks

– The Environmental Center of San Luis Obispo, in partnership with Central Coast Partners for Water Quality, will host the 2026 San Luis Obispo County Creeks to Coast Cleanup this September, expanding the annual event to include not only the county’s coastline but also inland creeks, lakes, and parks.

Since 2005, the environmental organization has organized beach cleanups from San Simeon to Nipomo as part of an international cleanup effort. According to the organization, volunteers removed more than 7,000 pounds of waste from local waterways during last year’s event.

Volunteers can register for their preferred cleanup location, with sites available throughout San Luis Obispo County from North County to South County.

Additional information, including the site map, waiver, event flyers, volunteer details, and registration, is available at http://ecoslo.org/creeks-to-coast. Organizers encourage participants to register in advance to help prepare supplies.
