Veterans Day ceremony planned at Faces of Freedom Memorial

faces of freedom

– The Atascadero Veterans Memorial Foundation will hold its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Faces of Freedom Memorial, located at the corner of Highway 41 and Portola Road. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11.

Since Veterans Day marks the conclusion of the 13-year national commemoration of the U.S. withdrawal from the Vietnam War, this year’s event will focus on Vietnam veterans while honoring all who have served.

The ceremony will include a flyover, the presentation of the Colors by Vietnam veterans accompanied by the Pipes & Drums, remarks from a Vietnam veteran speaker, recognition of Blue Star Families, and the presentation of more than 20 Quilts of Valor.

Following the ceremony, the Kiwanis Club will serve a barbecue lunch, with proceeds supporting the maintenance of the memorial.
