Vehicle crashes into power lines, causing outage, fire

–A vehicle crashed into power lines causing a power outage late Sunday night in front of 11605 El Camino Real in Atascadero, according to reports.

The vehicle crashed into a natural gas line causing a vegetation and natural gas fire in an open field. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they say 50 feet of grass and vegetation caught fire.

They had a difficult time getting to the driver who crashed because live power lines hit the vehicle and there was a barbed-wire fence in the area.

Crews estimate $25,000 in damages but say they saved $500,000 worth of property.
