United Way of SLO County appoints new CEO
– United Way of San Luis Obispo County has named Jane Pomeroy as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 17. Pomeroy, a longtime community advocate, is set to lead the organization into its next phase, focusing on initiatives in early childhood education, family financial stability, and community strengthening.
Trish Avery Caldwell, Board Chair of United Way of SLO County, expressed excitement about Pomeroy’s appointment, stating, “The United Way of SLO County Board members and staff are excited to have Jane Pomeroy taking the reins as CEO! Her abilities, track record, and exceptional dedication to, and passion for, the people of SLO County is truly inspiring.”
Pomeroy currently serves as a senior associate at Sheikh/Impact in Los Angeles County, providing strategic fund development counsel to various nonprofit agencies. Previously, she served as the Executive Director of RISE on the Central Coast, where she facilitated a merger with Stand Strong to form Lumina Alliance, and later held the position of chief communications officer.
In April 2024, Pomeroy was honored with a Shining Light: Legacy Award for her contributions to survivor care, volunteer service, and innovation in addressing sexual and intimate partner violence.
Nick Drews, Director of SLO County Health Agency and United Way Board Member, said, “Our county is fortunate to have someone of Jane’s caliber and non-profit experience arrive at this pivotal point in the growth and development of our United Way. With her stewardship, we will be able to better serve and strengthen our community.”
In a statement, Pomeroy expressed her enthusiasm for the role, saying, “Born and raised on the Central Coast, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible spirit of this community and its commitment to uplifting one another together. I am both honored and energized to lead United Way of SLO County into its next chapter, and to work with our partners to collectively ensure everyone is afforded the opportunity to thrive.”
A native of San Luis Obispo, Pomeroy resides in town with her husband Craig, and two children.
