Touring company brings interactive ‘Cinderella’ to TPAC Oct. 3
Audiences invited to cheer the heroes and boo the villains in British panto tradition
– The Templeton Performing Arts Center will host two performances of “Cinderella” by The Panto Company USA on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 2 and 5 p.m.
The Panto Company USA is a professional touring company of adult actors that performs productions for young audiences across the country. Panto is a British theatre tradition that puts a funny, musical, and interactive spin on classic fairy tales. Audience members are encouraged to cheer for the heroes, boo the villains, call out to the performers, and become part of the show.
In the story, Cinderella endures the cruelty of her two stepsisters until her Fairy Godmother casts a spell that sends her to the ball, where she meets the Prince. When midnight strikes, she must flee, leaving behind a single glass slipper.
The production is designed for younger audiences and features professional performers, original songs, and audience participation, according to the performing arts center.
The TPAC Foundation, the performing arts center’s supporting nonprofit, purchased the show from the touring company. All ticket proceeds go back into supporting the performing arts center, according to Ryan Flores of the Templeton Performing Arts Center.
