Templeton advisory group chair resigns after felony conviction
– David Allen Leader, chair of the Templeton Area Advisory Group, resigned Tuesday, days after a contentious board meeting and less than a week after he was sentenced following a felony conviction, according to reports.
Leader, 71, pleaded guilty July 22 to vandalism and violating restraining orders filed by neighbors. He was sentenced Aug. 20.
The resignation came after the advisory group approved amended bylaws at its Aug. 20 meeting that removed a provision allowing the board to remove members with felony convictions. The vote was 5-1, according to reports.
Leader voted in favor of the amended bylaws.
Leader told The Tribune that his attorney advised him to avoid advisory group meetings until further notice and that resigning was in the group’s best interest. His resignation took effect immediately.
