– Americana singer-songwriter Jade Jackson, who grew up in Santa Margarita, will release her new album, “Jadine,” on Friday, Oct. 16, through her own label, Jackson Star Records. It is her first album since parting ways with Anti- Records. Jackson spent three years making the album and calls it the first of her career that fully reflects who she is as an artist and where she comes from, according to the announcement.
“We made Jadine a couple of songs at a time, and that gave each one room to become what it needed to be,” says Jackson. “After everything I’ve been through with music these past few years, I didn’t want to hold back. I wanted to give more of myself. Even calling the record Jadine feels like a way of letting people a little closer. I hope they hear these songs and feel like they know me better. This feels like the beginning of a new chapter, and I’m excited to see where the songs take us.”
Jackson co-produced the album with her husband, artist and songwriter Josh Wolfe, and Gabe Rabben. Brandon Bell, a three-time Grammy winner whose credits include The Highwomen, Brandi Carlile, Miranda Lambert, Joni Mitchell, and Billy Strings, mixed the album.
The focus track, “Daddy Tried,” reimagines Merle Haggard’s 1968 song “Mama Tried” from a woman’s point of view. Jackson opened for Haggard as a teenager, and the Haggard estate approved the new version. Another track, “Me and My Sister,” tells the story of Jackson and her sister growing up in Santa Margarita.
Release week events include an in-store signing and listening party at Traffic Records in Atascadero on Thursday, Oct. 15; a hometown album release show at SLO Brew Rock in San Luis Obispo on Saturday, Oct. 17; and a performance opening for Dustin Lynch at Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles on Sunday, Oct. 18. Tickets for the SLO Brew Rock show are on sale through the venue.
Jackson was legally blind from birth and was raised without television or internet. She learned music from her father’s record collection and started writing songs as a teenager between shifts at her family’s restaurant. She signed with Anti- Records while a student at CalArts and released the albums “Gilded” in 2017 and “Wilderness” in 2019. The Americana Music Association named her a showcase artist at AmericanaFest 2026 this September.
