– A San Luis Obispo man has been reported missing after planning a hiking trip to Big Sur last week, according to his family.
Robert Kruse had planned to stay at the Ragged Point Inn from Aug. 5 to 7 and hike in the area, his sister, Katie DeMare, said in a Facebook post. Hotel staff told the family that Kruse never checked in. DeMare said he was last seen in Long Beach on Aug. 5.
DeMare and her husband found Kruse’s 2007 Saturn Aura in the hotel parking lot. She said they believe he may have gotten lost while hiking in the Ragged Point area.
Kruse has not returned to his San Luis Obispo home. His family began searching for him on Sunday.
He was last seen wearing a white shirt, bright blue shorts, and a multicolored or tie-dyed pastel backpack, DeMare said.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (805) 781-4550.
