Police detain suspected hit-and-run driver after scooter crash in Atascadero 


– Atascadero police detained a suspected driver after an injury hit-and-run collision involving a scooter Wednesday evening, and the investigation remains ongoing, according to a press release.

The Atascadero Police Department responded at about 5 p.m. on July 22 to a report of a traffic collision in the 7100 block of El Camino Real.

Officers determined a vehicle and scooter had collided. One person sustained moderate injuries, and one of the motorists fled the scene on foot.

Officers located and detained the suspected motorist near the intersection of Curbaril and San Luis Avenue.

The injured motorist was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing, and officers are processing the scene. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
