Police arrest woman in Grover Beach burglary

Homeowner monitored live camera feed during reported break-in

– A San Luis Obispo woman was arrested June 16 after a reported residential burglary in the 200 block of North 10th Street, according to the Grover Beach Police Department.

At approximately 1:24 p.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress. The homeowner was not at the residence but was monitoring a live bedroom security camera and observed a suspect inside the home.

The suspect, later identified as Alyssa Scheidt, 36, of San Luis Obispo, was seen rummaging through a bedroom and communicating with the homeowner through the camera system.

Officers responded to the scene, established a perimeter around the residence, and evacuated Ramona Garden Park as a safety precaution.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact the suspect inside the home, officers received an updated clothing description from the homeowner, who continued monitoring the live video feed and observed the suspect changing clothes.

Using the updated information, officers located and detained Scheidt in the area. During the detention, officers found two sets of vehicle keys belonging to the homeowners in her possession.

Scheidt was arrested on suspicion of burglary in violation of Penal Code 459 and transported to the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

The vehicle keys were later returned to the homeowners.

The Grover Beach Police Department reported that the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and the Arroyo Grande Police Department assisted in locating and apprehending the suspect.
