NCI Affiliates marks Disability Employment Awareness Month

Paso Robles-based nonprofit invites residents to shop, donate, or hire through its programs
– NCI Affiliates, Inc., a Paso Robles-based nonprofit that serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is marking National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October by inviting the community to shop at its thrift stores, donate gently used items, or hire through its employment programs.
For more than 45 years, the organization has provided vocational training, employment placement, independent living support, and enterprise programs, according to a news release. Its thrift stores, postal contract operations, and specialized employment programs turn donations and business partnerships into job training and career opportunities, according to the nonprofit.
“For over four decades, NCI Affiliates has proven that an inclusive workforce drives community strength and individual independence,” said Executive Director Crystal Nevosh. “October is all about recognizing the incredible skills, dedication, and value that individuals with disabilities bring to our local workforce.”
Purchases at the thrift stores help fund local vocational training, and donations of clothing and goods support hands-on job training and career development programs, according to the organization. Businesses can also partner with the nonprofit to hire job-ready employees.
NCI Affiliates operates thrift stores at 183 Niblick Road in Paso Robles and 8681 El Camino Real in Atascadero, as well as a store in Salinas. Its post office and donation drop-off is at 496 Linne Road in Paso Robles. Employers can reach the organization’s employer partnership team at (805) 238-6630.
