‘Movies in the Gardens’ starts Aug. 5
–The City of Atascadero and presenting sponsor, Twin Cities Hospital, along with event sponsor, Idler’s Home, will present 2017 Movies in the Gardens. The movies will show on Saturdays, Aug. 5 through Sept. 2 (no movie on Aug. 19). Shows will begin at approximately 8 p.m. All shows are held in the Sunken Gardens Park located at 6500 Palma Avenue in Atascadero and are family-friendly. This event is totally free. Everyone is encouraged to bring their family and friends to enjoy an evening of action packed entertainment and fun.
Saturday, Aug. 5 we present Disney’s “Moana” (PG), a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who is inspired to leave the safety and security of her island on a daring journey to save her people. Inexplicably drawn to the ocean, Moana (voice of Auliʻi Cravalho) convinces the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) to join her mission, and he reluctantly helps her become a way finder like her ancestors who sailed before her. Together, they voyage across the open ocean on an action-packed adventure, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills her quest and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.
Other movies being shown in the park this summer are Lego Batman (Aug. 12), Beauty & the Beast (Aug. 26) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Sept. 2, PG-13). The movies are free for the community and you are encouraged to bring a blanket, low-back chair, and your family to relish the warm summer evenings. Snacks and refreshments will be available every week provided by St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
