Man arrested on murder, arson charges 

Man allegedly burned down apartment in Grover Beach, killing roommate

–Manuel Jesus Perez, 41, of Grover Beach has been charged with the first degree murder of Joseph Charles Kienly IV, 37, of Grover Beach. Kienly was Perez’s roommate at the time.

Perez has also been charged with arson of an inhabited dwelling, burning down his and Kienly’s residence at the 100 block of North 13th Street in Grover Beach, on July 11, according to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney.

Perez has previous convictions, that of first degree burglary in 1995 from Ventura County, as well as a strike prior based on that same burglary conviction.
