Library card holders can get local business discounts in September
Participants can collect stamps for a chance to win prizes
– More than 30 businesses in Atascadero and Cambria will offer discounts and freebies to County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries members during National Library Card Signup Month in September.
Library members can present their library card at participating businesses to receive discounts and freebies. Participating businesses include Bramble Pie Company, Malibu Brew Coffee, Cutruzzola Vineyard, Plantae & Fungi, and others.
Participating businesses will display a window decal featuring the library’s mascot, Quincy the Quail, during September. The full list of participating businesses is available on SLOLibrary.org under the Events tab.
Library members can also enter a prize drawing by collecting stamps from participating businesses on a special bookmark. Bookmarks are available at the Atascadero Library, the Cambria Library, and participating businesses.
“This initiative connects community members in new ways and sparks curiosity,” said Tina Baugh, regional manager for County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries. “It’s a way to explore our communities together.”
Library Card Signup Month has historically been an annual American Library Association initiative held during September. The initiative encourages libraries to remind parents, caregivers, and students that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning.
Library members can access additional items and services beyond books, including County and State parks passes, museum passes, and board games. Members can also borrow musical instruments, sewing machines, and other items.
