Jury convicts San Luis Obispo man of felony stalking
Jenky Bueno, 56.
Prosecutors said the defendant violated restraining and court orders
– San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow announced this week that a San Luis Obispo County jury found Jenky Bueno, 56, of San Luis Obispo, guilty of felony stalking, two misdemeanor counts of violating a domestic relations restraining order, and two misdemeanor counts of violating a court order.
Bueno was convicted following a trial in which jurors heard evidence that he and the victim had been in a dating relationship for about a year and a half before separating in spring 2023. Prosecutors presented evidence that later that year, Bueno began to follow, berate, and harass the victim.
According to the evidence presented at trial, Bueno repeatedly showed up uninvited at the victim’s residence and followed her in public places she frequented during the day and at night, causing her to fear for her safety.
Despite the victim’s clear demand that Bueno leave her alone, prosecutors said the conduct continued through repeated harassment, including unwanted visits to her home, disparaging phone calls, text messages, and communication through social media.
In spring 2024, the victim requested and received a domestic relations restraining order through the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court. Prosecutors said Bueno violated that order on multiple occasions. Law enforcement received reports of the violations, and criminal charges were filed in early 2025. A criminal protective order was later issued in the case, which Bueno also violated.
“We work hard to stop intimate partner violence in our community and hold abusers accountable because it is deadly serious conduct,” Dow said. “Statistics show that over half of female homicide victims in the US are killed by a current or former male intimate partner. Intervention and accountability through our criminal and victim justice system can save lives.”
Bueno faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2026, in Department 5 of the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court, with Judge Timothy S. Covello presiding.
The San Luis Obispo Police Department investigated the case. Deputy District Attorney Kristofer Baughman prosecuted the case and is assigned to the Intimate Partner Violence Prosecution Unit. Victim services were provided by victim advocates Divina Diaz, Isabella Gaddini, and Gaby Puga. Witness coordination services were provided by Iris Martin.
