Highway 1 stretch in Big Sur reopens after Timber Fire response
– A 10-mile stretch of Highway 1 in Monterey County reopened at 1 p.m. Saturday following support of the Timber Fire emergency response.
Electronic message boards will alert travelers in advance of the reopening. Drivers should continue to use caution in the area or use U.S. 101 as an alternate route.
Road information and updates are available through Caltrans District 5 social media platforms, including Twitter at @CaltransD5, Facebook at Caltrans Central Coast (District 5), and Instagram at Caltrans_D5.
Caltrans reminded drivers that crews also need to return home safely and asked motorists to drive slowly and carefully in work zones.
