–Last month, Atascadero High School Auto Shop Instructor Tony Renteria’s shop team competed in the HITAC Auto Shop Competition at Cuesta College.

The team is part of the Atascadero High School’s Career and Technical Education Automotive Pathway and are in either the Introduction or Advance Automotive classes.

HITAC stands for High School Technicians Automotive Competition. Cuesta put it on and invited 6 local high schools and compete: Lompoc, San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande, Morro Bay, Paso Robles, and Atascadero.

The team had to go through several stations that had them identifying engine parts and problems. They were scored on their answers. Mason Rushing and Samuel Salzman scored in the top ten for the competition. Both students were awarded new HITAC tools.
