Free flu vaccine clinics coming to Atascadero schools in October
County public health offers no-cost vaccines for adults and children ages 3 and older
– The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Health is offering a series of no-cost flu vaccine events throughout the county this fall, including two clinics in Atascadero, to make it easier for community members and families to get protected ahead of flu season.
Vaccines are available for adults and children ages 3 and older. No insurance or documentation is required.
“Getting a flu vaccine is one of the simplest steps people can take to protect themselves, their families and our community during flu season,” said Interim County Health Officer Dr. Rick Rosen. “These community events are designed to make vaccination convenient and accessible, especially for families who may face barriers to accessing routine health care.”
According to the department, flu can cause serious illnesses, particularly among young children, older adults, pregnant people, and people with certain chronic health conditions. Vaccination can reduce the risk of flu illness and its complications and can also help reduce the spread of flu to others.
In Atascadero, clinics will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria at Santa Rosa Academic Academy, 8655 Santa Rosa Road, and Monday, Oct. 26, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria at Atascadero Middle School, 6501 Lewis Ave.
The series began Sept. 23 at Lillian Larsen Elementary in San Miguel. Monarch Grove Elementary, 348 Los Osos Valley Road, in Los Osos, will host a clinic next to the school office in Room 1 on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 4 to 5 p.m.
Glen Speck Elementary, 401 17th St., in Paso Robles, will host a clinic by the school library on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Oceano Community Center, 1425 19th St., in Oceano, will host a clinic with the Food Bank in the gym on Friday, Oct. 16, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The Paso Robles ECHO Shelter, 1134 Black Oak Drive, in Paso Robles, will host a clinic in the conference room on Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. Vineyard Elementary School, 2121 Vineyard Drive, in Templeton, will host a clinic in the multipurpose room on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 2 to 5 p.m.
No insurance or documentation is required at these events. Community members are encouraged to attend the event most convenient for them. For additional information about flu vaccination and other public health vaccine services, visit slocounty.gov/freefluvaccines.
Community members who cannot attend these events can also get vaccines through their insurance by scheduling appointments at county public health clinics or their local pharmacy.
