Supervisor candidate forum held at Atascadero High School

Forum was sponsored by the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce

– More than one hundred people turned out for a San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Candidates Forum at Atascadero High School gym Thursday night. The forum was sponsored by the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce.

All four candidates for 2nd District Supervisor participated: Geof Auslen, Supervisor Bruce Gibson, Dr. Bruce Jones, and (retired) Colonel John Whitworth.Candidates settling in

The candidates answered questions prepared by members of the chamber and those written by members of the public who attended the forum.
The questions ranged from issues like the cost of housing, homelessness, elections, water, and the operation of the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. The chamber plans to post a video of the forum on its website.

The June Primary will decide the race if a candidate gets over 50-percent of the vote. Otherwise, the top two vote-getters in June will face off in November’s General Election.

The forum lasted from 6 p.m. to just after 8 p.m. Thursday night.
