Fire destroys multigenerational Atascadero family home

– A family in Atascadero is asking for community support after a fire destroyed their multigenerational home on May 6, according to a GoFundMe campaign organized by Claire Grzincic.
The family said the home was built by the boyfriend’s grandparents and had been passed down through generations. The fire destroyed keepsakes, family photos, personal artwork, and other belongings.
“On May 6, our home was lost to a devastating fire,” the fundraiser states.
The family said they were not home when the fire occurred.
“We weren’t there when it happened. By the time we knew, it was over,” the fundraiser states.
According to the fundraiser, everyone in the family, including their animals, escaped safely.
“The one thing we’re holding onto: our entire family, including our animals, are safe,” the fundraiser states.
The family said they have fire insurance, but rebuilding and insurance claims are expected to take months. In the meantime, they are seeking help covering immediate expenses, including clothing, groceries, and daily essentials for the family and their pets.
“Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly toward helping us get back on our feet,” the fundraiser states.
As of publication, the fundraiser had raised $7,840 toward its $25,000 goal through 77 donations.
