February events scheduled at the Atascadero Library 

The Atascadero Library is located at 6555 Capistrano Ave in Atascadero.

Many of the listed library programs are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Atascadero Library.

The library will be closed Feb 2 for staff training, Feb 12 for Lincoln’s Birthday and Feb 19 for Presidents Day

Preschool Storytimes

Preschool storytimes are scheduled on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. to share stories and songs.

Toddler Storytimes

Join us for a storytime specifically designed for your toddler every Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. to share stories, rhymes, music and finger plays.

Craft Club

  • Come make a Feb 2 at 3:30 p.m.
  • Registration required. Please call or register online.
  • Ages 6 to 12.

 

Lego Club

  • Join us Sat Feb 10 at 2 p.m. for some Lego building fun!
  • Registration required. Please call or register online.
  • Ages 5-12

Paws to Read to Daisy

  • Thursdays Feb 1 and Feb 15 at 3:30 p.m.
  • Practice reading anything to Daisy the dog and she will listen!
  • School-age

 

Pajama Drama

Children are invited to take part in unique drama and imaginative play classes with a theme of growing. Six Classes.

Exploring Autism Presentation with Becky D’Ornellas

Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center’s Becky D’Ornellas will give a presentation to promote Autism awareness and provide information regarding community resources on Thur, Feb 8 at 6p.m. This event is presented in conjunction with the Cuesta Book of the Year program. Becky D’Ornellas is a founding board member of Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center (CCASC) of San Luis Obispo County. Becky co-founded the CCASC North County Autism Parent Support and served as group moderator for 8 years.

Eating Well

Thur Feb 22 at 6 p.m.

Join Cal Poly Professor Doris Derelian and students on Thur Feb 22 at 6 p.m.for a presentation about the latest research and resources on how to eat well to stay healthy in today’s modern world.

The Photography of Joe Schwartz

A photo exhibit featuring the life-affirming photography of Joe Schwartz will be on display at the Atascadero Library during the months of February and March. A reception will be held THU, FEB 8 at 5:30 PM. Light refreshments will be served and all are welcome. Joe Schwartz’s photographs are on permanent display at the newest museum of the Smithsonian Institution, the National Museum of African American History and Culture. His work has also been displayed at the Getty.

Book Discussion Groups

The two library book groups are:

  • Gems in the Stacks meeting the first Tuesday (Feb 6) of the month, at 11 a.m.
  • Mixed Minds Book Group meeting the third Thursday (Feb 15) of the month, at 2:30 p.m.

Gems in the Stacks will discuss Solomon’s Oak by Jo-Ann Mapson. Mixed Minds Book Group will discuss Cuesta College Book of the Year, Life, Animated by Ron Suskind.


Alice Creasy Rew Bookstore

The Alice Creasy Rew Bookstore is located by the lobby of the Atascadero Library. This is the place to find great used books for sale at fabulous bargain prices.
