High surf advisory was in effect

– A surfer stranded on Morro Rock was rescued by Morro Bay Fire Department personnel Monday morning as the Central Coast faced a high surf advisory, according to multiple reports.

Emergency responders received reports at 9:25 a.m. of an individual on the north side of Morro Rock, reports say. The National Weather Service had issued an advisory warning of waves up to 25 feet across the Central Coast through Tuesday morning.

By 9:37 a.m., the surfer had exited the water but remained on the rock, according to updates.

At 9:52 a.m., rescuers brought the surfer safely to the parking lot. A medical evaluation determined the individual was uninjured.
