Cycle de Mayo Active lifestyle festival coming to Paso Robles Sunday

-Promoted post-

During the Cycle de Mayo, professional BMX riders, like this one performing in Atascadero last year, will perform eye-grabbing stunts and tricks. The annual Cycle de Mayo, held this year in Paso Robles, promotes healthy lifestyle activities.

-Providing several opportunities for “extreme” photo ops, professional BMX riders will perform picture-perfect bunny hops, drop-ins, Superman airs and more next month during the third annual Cycle de Mayo, a fun and informative active lifestyle festival in Paso Robles.

The free event, which will be held Sunday, May 6 at Centennial Park between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., will feature several healthy activities, including bike runs, walking tours and an educational bike rodeo for beginning bicyclists. There will also be numerous wellness booths, barbecued food, locally made wine and beer and live music.

The festival, launched by the North County Cyclepeds, began as an event to promote bicycling and walking. But, as the crowds have grown, so too has the event itself, which has previously been held in Templeton and Atascadero. Now at its largest venue, the festival promotes a variety of healthy activities.

New features include yoga lessons, twice the number of wellness booths, and a healthy and enlightening walking tour led by volunteers from the Paso Robles Historical Society. The family-friendly festival will also feature face painting, custom bike rides of varying lengths and a river walking tour.

The BMX freestyle event will highlight the festival. Professional BMX riders are known for impressive feats that include high jumps, flips and spins on BMX bikes. BMX, or bicycle motocross, will become an Olympic sport in 2020. For more information on the festival, along with a schedule of events, visit www.cycledemayo.com.
