Children’s thrift store Patch moves to larger Atascadero location

Paso Robles storefront has been closed since Aug. 15

– Patch Children’s Thrift Boutique, owned by local business owner Alayna Bugg, has relocated its storefront from Paso Robles to Atascadero earlier this month. Bugg cited the need to expand the shopping experience and address a tourist-to-local ratio as key reasons for the move.

“When I originally made my business plan, I was initially looking to open in Atascadero. On my way to sign one lease, I discovered the Paso location on Spring,” Bugg said. She added that Paso Robles welcomed Patch with open arms, allowing her to build a community she refers to as her “Patch family.”

Bugg faced significant life events during her first year of opening Patch in Paso Robles, including planning her wedding and becoming pregnant with her first child. Despite these challenges, her Patch Family continued to support her business. “I felt like I needed to come back and give them something more. Right now, we have customers driving from all directions in Central California, and I needed to meet them more in the middle that was always worth the drive,” she explained. Bugg noted that customers have already returned 2-3 times in the first week of opening the new location. “It feels great to be reassured that I made the best business decision possible. I love seeing the old and new customers light up and smile when they walk in. This is OUR happy place.”

Bugg described the new Atascadero storefront as “bigger, better, brighter, and just overall everything good from Paso – came to Atascadero and is here to stay.” The larger space has allowed Patch to expand its women’s boutique selection, and the Quirky Kid Handmade brand now offers custom clothing orders. Jess, a team member, will sew in person at the shop as well.

The new Atascadero location features two separate cashier and trading counters, a full wall of windows, beautifully designed gold racks, and green walls. The store is open to the public from Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Trading for new or gently used children’s clothing sizes Newborn-7/8 is available on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and by appointment on Saturdays. The new location is at 7425 El Camino Real, Atascadero. The Paso Robles storefront has been closed since Aug. 15.
