Atascadero students can walk to school for a chance at $50

What’s happening at Atascadero Unified in October
– Atascadero Unified School District shared several upcoming events in its September newsletter, including a Walk/Roll to School Day, an All-District Choir Concert, and a virtual parent learning session on special education.
Walk/Roll to School Day
Walk/Roll to School Day will take place Wednesday, Oct. 7. Walkers in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade will receive a snack and free giveaways, and students in seventh through 12th grade can walk for a chance to win $50. Parent learning session on special education
A virtual session titled “Understanding Special Education to Empower Participation” will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13, from noon to 12:50 p.m. as part of the Growing Together Parent Learning Series from the San Luis Obispo County Special Education Local Plan Area. Participants will learn about the individualized education program process, gain clarity on documents, and discover ways to share their insights at their child’s meetings. All-District Choir Concert
The All-District Choir Concert will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Atascadero Middle School gym. The concert will feature choirs from Atascadero High School, Atascadero Middle School, Atascadero Fine Arts Academy, and the district’s elementary schools. There is a $5 suggested donation, payable by cash or check to the attendee’s school.
Flu vaccine clinics
The district newsletter also noted free flu vaccine clinics at Santa Rosa Academic Academy on Oct. 22 and at Atascadero Middle School on Oct. 26.
