Atascadero student represents Team USA at World Aquathon 

Johnathan Dolan wins competition, becomes Male 16-19 World Champion

–Atascadero High School Junior, Johnathan Dolan just returned from Fyn, Denmark where he represented Team USA and competed at the 2018 World Aquathlon Championships and won the World Championship. The competition took place Thursday, July 12.

Johnathan won the competition and became the Male 16-19 World Champion as one of the youngest competitors at the World Championships in a time of 31 minutes 18 seconds, narrowly beating a competitor from New Zealand by 7 seconds in the last quarter mile. Finishing first in his age group, he also finished 4th overall among all 420 competitors.

The Aquathlon consists of a 1000 meter open water swim followed by a 5km run. The open water ocean swim was littered with stinging jellyfish this year.

Johnathan has competed on the Atascadero High School varsity cross country, varsity swimming, and varsity track teams the last two years. He has been competing in aquathlon and triathlon for 4 years.
