For the next ten weeks, Cunningham will visit 50 local businesses in 50 working days. During the visits, he will tour facilities, meet employees and talk with the owners about ways that California could improve the business climate.

“I have the sense that many of our local business leaders feel like our state’s policies are doing more to hurt their operations than help,” said Cunningham. “I will be traveling from San Miguel to Lompoc to visit local businesses and ask them all the same question: What is one thing the state could be doing to help your business grow?”

The catalyst for the idea was the recent announcement of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant closure. Cunningham said, “I’m excited to tour our local businesses on the Central Coast and learn from them what our state can do to help our businesses grow and add jobs. With the impending closure of Diablo Canyon, it is critical that we focus on ways our state can encourage job growth through smart policy – not inhibit it through bad policy.”

Cunningham is currently the owner and co-founder of Cunningham Law Group. Previously he served as a Deputy District Attorney on the Central Coast, where he prosecuted a wide variety of crimes – including fraud, assault, and domestic violence. He is also the former President of the Central Coast Taxpayers Association and current School Board Member for Templeton Unified School District.

Cunningham will be posting the progress of the job growth tour to his social media feeds; you can follow the tour on twitter here, and on Facebook here. After the tour has been completed, Cunningham will be compiling the thoughts of local business owners and releasing a five-point plan for job growth on the Central Coast.
