Accessory dwelling unit regulations topic of upcoming Coffee with a Planner session

Community members can discuss zoning and development topics with staff

– The City of Atascadero Community Development Department will host its next “Coffee with a Planner” session on May 21 at Malibu Brew Coffee.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. and will focus on accessory dwelling units and Senate Bill 9, according to the city.

City staff said the session will include a discussion about where accessory dwelling units are allowed and the approval process for projects.

The city said the monthly sessions are held on the third Thursday of each month and are designed to give residents an opportunity to discuss land use, zoning, city policy, and development projects with planning staff.

According to the city, each session highlights a specific topic, but staff members will address additional topics as time allows.

“These informal sessions allow staff to hear from the community about a variety of topics including land use, zoning, city policy, and development projects,” the city said in a statement. “The goal of these sessions is to allow for open dialog, and to provide a casual and accessible time for ongoing community input.”
