Youth can explore drug consequences at ‘Reality Tour’ event in Atascadero
Tour will take place March 11 at Atascadero Lake Pavilion
– Lighthouse Atascadero is set to host a Reality Tour, an impactful event aimed at educating children and families on the dangers of drugs. The tour provides valuable information on how to stay safe and empowers participants with the tools needed to make healthy choices.
Scheduled for Mar. 11 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the event will take place at the Atascadero Lake Pavilion. Interested individuals can register at www.lighthouseatascadero.org.
The tour, an evidence-based drug prevention program developed by Candle, Inc., is, “not intended as a scare tactic but as the beginning of a family conversation.” Participants take a guided “tour” through the stages of drug use, witnessing the consequences of an overdose from the initial step to the final moments of death.
The program emphasizes the importance of family communication and accountability. Following the tour, the evening concludes with a small group question and discussion session, accompanied by pizza.
Since 2012, the Atascadero Greyhound Foundation has collaborated with the City of Atascadero Police, Fire, Parks and Recreation Departments, and the Chapel of the Roses to present Reality Tour to youth aged 12 and above. The goal is to equip the community with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect children from the pervasive risks of drug abuse.
