Women’s Business Center offering free face masks for local businesses
Over 2,000 face masks are available
–In a proactive effort to support local businesses with the Division of Occupational Safety and Health‘s Covid-19 “Prevention Emergency Temporary Standards“, the Mission Community Services Corporation’s Women’s Business Center of San Luis Obispo County is partnering with PPE Unite, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services to distribute free N95 face masks on Aug. 17.
The latest state regulations require that California workplaces supply N95 masks for their workers who may need them. As of June 17, the state rolled out a program that requires businesses to report which of their employees has been vaccinated or not and promptly supply each non-vaccinated employee with an N95 respirator mask at the business owner’s expense. Employees who decline to provide proof of vaccination or who have a medical exemption are treated as non-vaccinated and mandated to wear the appropriate N95 mask. Employees that have been vaccinated can also choose to wear masks.
As the infection rates of Covid-19 and the Delta variant continue to rise, industries such as assisted living, homeless shelters, schools, theatres, family entertainment centers, retail and restaurant businesses will need to be prepared.
To support San Luis Obispo County’s small business community, the business center is offering masks at no charge on Tuesday, Aug. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at their headquarters, 71 Zaca Lane #130. The one-day pickup event is by appointment only to minimize contact and enhance safety protocols per the recent surge of the variant. Over 2,000 masks are available. Each employee that is unvaccinated/eligible can receive up to 30 masks.
