– San Luis Obispo Police arrested a 36-year-old woman Sunday afternoon for multiple charges, including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers responded to the area near the Transit Center at Osos and Palm after receiving reports that the woman, identified as Antonia Bustos, had stolen a backpack from a victim who was sleeping nearby. Bustos was seen removing items from the backpack by another person, who attempted to stop her. In response, Bustos punched the witness in the face.
When the victim woke up and attempted to reclaim his belongings, Bustos briefly walked away, but then returned with a knife and attempted to stab the victim. After the confrontation, Bustos discarded the knife in a nearby trash can and fled the scene.
While officers were speaking with the victims, they saw Bustos across the street and attempted to detain her. Bustos ran, but officers quickly apprehended her on the 900 block of Morro Street after a brief struggle.
Bustos is currently in custody with a bail set at $50,000.
