Woman arrested after high-speed chase through North County

–Burglary suspect 43-year-old Selena Monique Grijalva was arrested in Atascadero yesterday after leading authorities from multiple agencies on a high-speed chase from San Luis Obispo, over the grade, and through North County.

The pursuit began in San Luis Obispo. San Luis Obispo Police Officers were in pursuit of a burglary suspect traveling northbound on US 101 from California Blvd when California Highway Patrol requested to take over the pursuit. Her vehicle was described as an older green Ford Thunderbird. CHP units intercepted the vehicle north of the town of Santa Margarita on El Camino Real and attempted to make a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield and entered Northbound Highway 101 reaching speeds of over 100 mph.

The suspect exited at Cubaril Ave. traveled over the freeway, and re-entered US 101 traveling northbound on the southbound off-ramp. CHP units paralleled the suspect vehicle and saw it drive off the road and strike a tree on the Morro Road on-ramp to southbound US 101. Atascadero PD officers surrounded the vehicle while CEP officers took the driver into custody.

Grijalva was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with a bail of $50,000. No further details are available at this time.
