Winter fun in Morro Bay

–Morro Bay always offers fun events for visitors and locals to enjoy year-round and winter months are no exception. Winter is the time that more than 200 species of migratory birds come to roost and feed in the estuary, the local police force entertains with caroling cops, boat owners light up the harbor, and Santa Claus comes to town.

Morro Bay Merchants Association Winter Street Fair- Nov. 27

The fair offers music, dancing, kiddie entertainment, food & gifts. A good time for everyone! This is a great chance to buy that unique item for yourself of someone special. Free admission. Morro Bay Blvd & Main Streets. 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Lighted Boat Parade – Dec. 10

Thousands of people gather along the waterfront to watch the annual Holiday Lighted Boat Parade. Boats of all sizes from large commercial fishing vessels to tiny kayaks take part, all brightly decorated. It is always fun to see the different holiday themes each vessel comes up with in their quest for the annual awards. Good viewing points are available from Tidelands Park in the south to Morro Rock in the north. You can also reserve seating in many of the restaurants along the Embarcadero and enjoy a great meal while watching the parade. Event begins approximately at 6 p.m. but it is always good to arrive early to find an ideal viewing spot.

Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival – Jan. 15-18
Bird watchers flock to the area from near and far to enjoy the annual Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival. This eco-tourism event highlights the more than 200 species of birds that spend the winter months on the Central Coast. There are field trips throughout the county, boat trips to see pelagic birds, boat tours of the bay and estuary, and many interesting and informative workshops to attend.
