Walmart pulls plans for Atascadero location

Walmart logo–The City of Atascadero has announced that Walmart will not be moving forward with their project that has been in the making now for the past ten years. The reason for the decision is the market has changed and the demand for e-commerce and online sales are at their highest, according to the city.

Walmart reportedly is wanting to work with the city to make this a viable project for other potential retailers.

“While we are disappointed in the news, had it been announced four years ago during the recession it would have been more difficult to receive. However, the City will be working with new potential partners, and we are optimistic about the options that this retail location will offer,” said Mayor Tom O’Malley.

No further information is available at this time.
