Voter registration deadline approaching
Last day to register is Monday, Oct. 24
–As preparations for the General Election continue, voters are reminded that Monday, Oct. 24, is the last day to register to vote. Voters who have moved or changed their name must complete a new voter registration. Voters can use the California online voter registration system available at www.slovote.com to register to vote up until midnight on Oct. 24. Paper voter registrations must be postmarked or received in the County Clerk-Recorder’s office by October 24th for voters to be eligible to vote on November 8th. Any voter registering by this deadline will receive a postcard with their polling place location. They will not receive the sample ballot booklet issued by the County or the state voter guide, however both of these publications are available on the respective websites: www.slovote.com and www.sos.ca.gov.
Paper registration forms are available throughout San Luis Obispo County at the following locations: Post Offices, City Halls, libraries, banks, notary offices, utility companies, DMV and the County Clerk-Recorder’s office in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero. There is an after-hours Elections Drop Off slot outside the Monterey Street doors of the Government Center at 1055 Monterey St and registration forms will be available there for completion up until the deadline.
To be eligible to register to vote a person must be:
1. A United States Citizen
2. 18 years old on or before Election Day
3. Not be in prison or on parole for a felony conviction
