Voter information mailed

vote by mail san luis obispo– There are a number of official election mailings in voters’ mailboxes during the coming weeks, according to San Luis Obispo County Clerk Recorder Tommy Gong:

1) The Sample Ballot Booklets for the Nov. 8, Consolidated General Election were mailed this week and will be soon arriving in mailboxes. The sample ballot booklet contains a copy of the ballot contests, candidate statements and measure information for contests on the voter’s ballot, the polling place location assigned to the voter and an application for a vote-by-mail ballot. This mailing will include voters who were registered as of Sept. 9 and are not registered as permanent vote-by-mail voters.

2) A Supplemental Voter Information Pamphlet was also sent this week to all voters (both polling place and vote-by-mail voters), containing ballot information regarding Measure J-16, the San Luis Obispo County Self-Help Local Transportation Investment Plan measure. All households with registered voters will have received the state voter information guides, containing information about the state propositions and candidates.

3) Voters with permanent vote-by-mail status and those residing in a vote-by-mail precinct will receive their local candidate and measure information along with their vote by-mail ballot beginning Oct. 11.

Voters are urged to use the voter registration status lookup on www.slovote.com, which allows a voter to check their registration status as well as their vote-by-mail ballot status. A voter will enter their birth date, the last 4 digits of their driver’s license and the street number of their residence. If an exact match is found, the system will confirm their registration status and their city of residence. It will also display their vote-by-mail ballot status and the districts in which their residence address is located. If anyone is unsure of their registration status or the website search does not display their status, they are urged to contact the elections office at [email protected] or 805-781-5228.

Anyone registering after October 10th and before the final registration deadline of October 24th will receive a postcard notification of their polling place. To assist all voters, the polling place locations, sample ballot booklets and application for a vote-by-mail ballot are also accessible on the internet at www.slovote.com. The State Voter Information Guides can also be accessed on the internet at www.sos.ca.gov.
