Two arrested after leading police on high-speed chase

–23-year-old Richard Corbitt and 20-year-old Brandee Bing are in custody after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed chase up and down Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County Wednesday night, according to reports.

Corbitt was arrested on an outstanding warrant, possession of a stolen vehicle, and evading police. The passenger of the car, Bing, was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The chase began around 6:30 p.m. on Highway 101 northbound near Five Cities Drive when Corbitt was made an unsafe lane change, according to reports. He got off the freeway before getting back on and leading officers on a chase all the way to the top of the Cuesta Grade before turning around to get onto Highway 101 southbound. Top speeds reached 75 mph.

The chase ended when Corbitt’s car ran out of gas near Oak Park Boulevard in Arroyo Grande after approximately 40 minutes. Corbitt’s vehicle reportedly had a license plate that didn’t match the car, indicating that it was stolen.
