Trout to be introduced into Atascadero Lake

–On Friday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m., there will be a release of Triploid Sterile Trout into Atascadero Lake. The purpose of this event is to introduce trout into Atascadero Lake creating more fishing opportunities in San Luis Obispo County.

The Friends of Atascadero Lake have been working with the City of Atascadero and Fish and Wildlife to introduce the Triploid sterile trout into Atascadero Lake. This project collaboration has been two years in the making. Fish and Wildlife reportedly wanted to create more fishing opportunities in San Luis Obispo County. Now that Atascadero Lake is sustainable, it was chosen as an ideal place for the introduction of the fish, according to the city. These trout will be “catch and eat” not “catch and release.”

The release will be on Lakeview Drive across from the peddle boat concession.
