Triple-digit temperatures in the forecast later this week for Atascadero
Excessive heat warning goes into effect Tuesday at 11 a.m.
– Hot weather is in the forecast this week for Atascadero, according to the latest weather forecast. Weather Underground is predicting a high temperature of 91 today, 93 on Tuesday, 91 on Wednesday, and 92 on Thursday. Triple digits are in the forecast Friday and Saturday for Atascadero.
The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for North County. The warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Monday.
During this period, dangerously hot conditions are expected with temperatures ranging from 100 to 110 degrees, and up to 105 to 115 degrees in interior valleys and foothills.
The heat can significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. The National Weather Service advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, avoid the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. It is crucial not to leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures within minutes.
When outside, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Be alert for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments for those working outdoors. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency; call 911 immediately if symptoms occur.
