Templeton Historical Museum to host blacksmithing battle and chili cook-off

Proceeds benefit the Templeton Historical Museum

– The Templeton Historical Museum will host a blacksmithing battle and chili cook-off on March 15 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the museum, located at 301 Main St.

The event will feature a tournament of professional blacksmiths, a chili cook-off and tasting, a metal art gallery, raffle prizes, a silent auction, and a blind forging battle.

Blacksmiths will compete for the championship title, with the final round featuring a blind forging battle where contestants will have 20 minutes to reproduce an object they have not seen in advance. Prizes and trophies will be awarded at the end of the competition.

Attendees can tour the museum’s gallery of hand-forged sculptures and bid on silent auction items, with proceeds benefiting the Templeton Historical Museum.

Blacksmith artists from across California will participate in the event. Sponsors and contestants can contact David Thayer at (805) 459-3985 for more information.

The Templeton Historical Museum is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history of Templeton. It is located in the historic Horstman house in downtown Templeton and is open to the public Friday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (805) 434-0807, email [email protected], or visit templetonmuseum.com.
