Templeton Fire Department provides update on feed and grain building fire

Update posted July 6:

– Templeton Fire and Emergency Services provided an update Saturday on the commercial structure fire at Templeton Feed and Grain, which began late Friday night.

At approximately 11:06 p.m. on Friday, fire crews were dispatched to 405 S. Main Street after alarms indicated a possible structure fire. The first unit to arrive reported a working fire with heavy smoke coming from the building, prompting an upgrade to a second alarm.

Templeton Fire reported that ten fire engines, three ladder trucks, a breathing support unit, and three chief officers responded to the scene. A total of 42 firefighters from Templeton Fire, Paso Robles Fire, Atascadero Fire, San Luis City Fire, Cal Fire/San Luis Obispo County Fire, and San Miguel Fire are actively working to contain the fire.

Additional support has been provided by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, Paso Robles Police Department, and San Luis Ambulance. These agencies are assisting with medical response, traffic control, and lane closures.

Templeton Fire said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The incident is expected to continue for several days.

In light of ongoing operations, the Templeton Community Services District is asking residents to limit water use to support firefighting efforts due to the high volume of water required to combat the blaze.

Main Street is closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic between 4th Street and 6th Street. Authorities continue to request that the public avoid the area.
