Templeton Eagles beat the Atascadero Greyhounds 27-24
Eagles regained the lead late in the game
– The Templeton Eagles beat the Atascadero Greyhounds 27-24 in an exciting game in Atascadero Friday night.
The back-and-forth game was tied 14-14 when sophomore quarterback Anthony Chavez directed a quick drive downfield in the closing minutes of the 2nd quarter. He threw a touchdown pass to Sr. Jack Wood and the Eagles took a 21-14 lead into halftime.
The Greyhounds rebounded in the second quarter with great contributions by QB Evan Moscardi and running back/receiver Cole Tanner. The Greyhounds outscored Templeton but the Eagles regained the lead late in the game. They held on for the victory.
The Eagles Jack Wood scored on runs of 50 and 61 yards. He led the Eagles in rushing. The Eagles improve to 3-2 for the season, 1-1 in conference. The Greyhounds fall to 1-6, 0-2 in conference. That game is believed to be the first played between Atascadero and Templeton.
The Bearcats upset the previously undefeated Nipomo Titans 19-12 in the South County. The Bearcats improve to 4-2 overall, 2-0 in conference. They will host Pioneer Valley Friday night.
