Teen Wellness Forum coming to Atascadero Oct. 14
– Parents and teens are invited to the Teen Wellness Forum at Springhill Suites in Atascadero on Oct. 14 from 4-6 p.m. to learn more about mental health, available resources, and coping mechanisms to help them thrive. The Springhill Suites Conference Center is located at 900 El Camino Real in Atascadero. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
The free event is co-hosted by Aspire Counseling San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo County Office of Education, and Knowing You Matter.
“Today’s teenagers are facing more pressures than ever before,” said Aspire Counseling Center Executive Director Tom Buckley. “These years are hard enough to navigate in normal circumstances, but it becomes even more so when life events, social pressure, and uncertainty is thrown into the mix. We want teens to know what resources they can turn to with their parents, and what coping mechanisms they can use to maintain a balanced life.”
Attendees will hear from keynote speaker Lisa Huet – LCSW/ Clinical Supervisor of Aspire Counseling San Luis Obispo on the topic of helping families cope and thrive after a mental health diagnosis.
Additionally, there will be breakout sessions with Dr. Sarah Moreland of Knowing You Matter, Aspire Counseling clinical team, and teen alumni, as well as Brita Conley, Program Manager of San Luis Obispo County Suicide Prevention.
