Update: Five detained for questioning after Grover Beach residence search
The Grover Beach Police Department has released more details regarding the search warrant served this morning on the 200 block of South 10th Street in Grover Beach:
–This morning at about 5:30 a.m., the Grover Beach Police Department, with the assistance of the San Luis Obispo County Regional SWAT team, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff SWAT (SED) team, the San Luis Obispo County Bomb Squad, and the Five Cities Fire Authority served a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of South 10th Street in relation to an ongoing investigation into the illegal detonation of multiple destructive devices in our city.
On October 15, 2018, GBPD and supporting agencies responded to a suspected destructive device that was found at 365 South 10th Street on the Grover Beach Elementary School campus. The devices was safely retrieved and preserved as evidence. On Feb. 26, 2019, GBPD and supporting agencies responded to two locations for a reported detonation of a destructive device. The locations were in the 100 block of South 9th Street and the 900 block of Ramona Ave. Evidence from both scenes was obtained by investigators.
During the investigation police distributed a photograph of a person of interest. The community responded with many tips of information and investigators have contacted that person of interest. As a result of the investigation, authorities obtained a search warrant for a residence that was located in close proximity to each of the device locations. Due to public safety concerns and in an abundance of caution, they deployed multiple resources this morning to ensure the safety of the community and everyone involved. Five people were detained without incident. One person was cited for being under the influence of narcotics. All persons detained were later released by investigators.
Police continue to investigate these incidents and ask that anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact Detective Nelida Aceves at (805) 473-4511 or via e-mail at [email protected] or Senior Police Officer Matthew Goodman at [email protected].
