basketball registration atascaderoProgram is designed to help kids and parents have a positive sports experience together

–The City of Atascadero’s Recreation Division is offering a morning and evening session of their Start Smart Basketball program for children ages 3-5. The program will take place inside the gym at the Colony Park Community Center, located at 5599 Traffic Way in Atascadero, Sept. 28 through Nov. 2. The morning session will be held 11:00-11:45 a.m., and the evening session will be held 5 – 5:45 p.m.

Both Start Smart classes will be held once per week for six weeks, with the exercises becoming increasingly more challenging as the classes progress and the children show improvement. Participants will work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents, with some guidance from an instructor. The program is designed to help kids and parents have a positive sports experience together. Children will work on the basic motor skills needed to play organized basketball without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt.

COVID-19 guidelines will be strictly followed for these activities and masks will be required while inside the Colony Park Community Center.

Pre-registration is required and can be done online at www.atascadero.org. For more information, call (805) 470-3362 or email [email protected].
