Spring concert series kicks off April 2

First concert will kick off on Saturday, April 2 at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. with The Burning James All-Stars.

Burning James All-Stars kick-off concert series in sunken garden

– The City of Atascadero is kicking off the new Spring Concert Series for 2022 to be held every Saturday evening through April 23. The first concert will kick off on Saturday, April 2 at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at historic city hall and sunken gardens in downtown Atascadero with The Burning James All-Stars.

The Burning James All-Stars are a five-piece band led by vocalist and guitarist “Burning” James Scoolis. Scoolis, like all of the “All-Stars” is well versed in soul, funk, and rhythm and blues and brings decades of performance experience to bear for each show. Joining Scoolis are two members of his long-running popular local ensemble, “Burning James and the Funky Flames,” Billy Baxmeyer (bass and vocals) and Ken Burton (Keyboards). Another “all-star” in this line-up is saxophonist, Scott Martin, on loan from the internationally known funk/rock band, “War.” Last, but not least, the “Mighty” Dean Giles is on drums.

The new Spring Concert Series will have a variety of entertainment for the kids with two bounce houses and  Balls. Concert fare will be available for purchase with options including Taqueria Don Jose, Zen Dog, and Paradise Shaved Ice.

The Spring Concert Series runs through four Saturdays starting April 2 through April 23, as follows:

  • April 2, Burning James All-Stars (Blues & Rock)
  • April 9, Carbon City Lights (Alternative Rock, Folk, Pop & rock)
  • April 16, Back Bay Betty (Contemporary Rock, Blues, Soul, Jazz)
  • April 23, Sōleffect (Blues, funk, rock, reggae band)

 

Concerts are free to the public and everyone is encouraged to bring a blanket, low-back chair, and the entire family to relish the beautiful spring evenings in Atascadero.
