SLO man faces felony charges for possession of child sexual abuse material
– Police arrested a San Luis Obispo man last week following an investigation involving multiple reports of child sexual abuse material.
Detectives from the San Luis Obispo Police Department, working in partnership with the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, arrested 28-year-old Ivan Cobarrubias on the 1200 block of Murray Street.
The investigation began after electronic service providers submitted sixteen Cybertips to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, reporting that a user had uploaded more than 1,000 files of child sexual abuse material. The tips were forwarded to San Luis Obispo police based on the location of the user’s IP address.
Detectives served a search warrant at Cobarrubias’ residence and vehicle and seized multiple electronic devices. He was booked into San Luis Obispo County jail on the following felony charges:
- Possession and transmission of child sexual abuse material
- Possession of material depicting a minor engaging in sexual conduct with more than 600 images and portraying sexual sadism and masochism
- Possession of material depicting a minor engaging in sexual conduct
Police stated that the investigation remains ongoing, but they currently do not believe there are any local victims.
