Skate fundraiser held for Atascadero Printery Foundation
Event held in conjunction with California Questers group
–The Printery Foundation held a skate party Saturday evening at the Printery Building in Atascadero. The fundraiser was held in conjunction with the California Questers, a group committed to preserving historic buildings in California. While skaters enjoyed jumps and other obstacles on Olmeda Avenue, attendees placed bids on donations at a silent auction in the printery building parking lot. A barbecue also raised money for the foundation.
The printery building was built one hundred years ago by Atascadero founder E.G. Lewis. The building was used to print publications for Sunset Magazine and other major newspapers and magazines.
Members of Questers Agua Calienta Chapter attended the event including Chapter President Karen MacLaurin, Grace Pucci and Sheila New.
Chapter President MacLaurin said the group is going to try to raise money to fix all the windows at the printery. That may cost more than $200,000. There are more than 60 windows in the brick building. People can donate at the printery foundation website. There are also two workdays per month at the printery building.
Questers Agua Caliente Chapter also supports the Rios Caledonia Adobe, Estrella Adobe Church, Atascadero Historical Society and Paso Robles Historical Society. The printery foundation will host a talent show at the printery on Sept. 10.
