San Gabriel School to host color run
Run is a reward for ‘Kick-A-Thon’ fundraiser
– San Gabriel Elementary School will celebrate raising $30,442 in its annual Kick-A-Thon fundraiser with a Color Run. The Color Run is part of a school assembly that will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, May 6.
The Color Run is a reward for reaching the school’s goal of raising $25,000 with at least 50-percent of students participating. In fact, the goals were exceeded with 55-percent of the students participating by collecting $5 or more in donations. The Color Run marks the end of the Kick-A-Thon where students kicked a soccer ball, had their speed recorded, and then asked people to sponsor them with donations to San Gabriel PTA.
The funds benefit the students and pays for field trips, assemblies, art and science programs, and many other activities and needs at San Gabriel Elementary School.
Over 200 students who raised $50 or more will surround the track wearing their Kick-A-Thon t-shirts and throw 60 pounds of colored powder at the principal, teachers, and student runners. There will be 23 student runners who earned this special opportunity by raising at least $125 and selecting this incentive prize from the Kick-A-Thon Prize Room.
The Prize Room was one of the student incentives and included gift certificates, toys, electronics, and other items donated by local and corporate businesses. There were also other classroom contests and prizes to encourage students to collect donations.
The annual Kick-A-Thon fundraiser has been a part of San Gabriel Elementary and PTA since 2001. The Kick-A-Thon is San Gabriel PTA’s primary fundraiser and raises over half of the PTA’s annual budget for programs.
