Salud Carbajal sworn into congress
Carbajal will be representing California’s 24th Congressional District
–On Tuesday, Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-CA) was sworn into serve his first term in the 115th Congress representing the 24th Congressional District.
“As this session of congress is called to order, I’m incredibly honored and humbled to have the opportunity to represent the hardworking families of California’s 24th Congressional District,” said Carbajal. “This congress brings with it an unprecedented set of challenges, but I am committed to providing increased economic opportunity and a better future for communities across the Central Coast.
“I was disappointed that my first vote this congress was against the rules package that now limits free speech and fines members for recording video while on the house floor. This rules change will not silence me from speaking out against any attempt to limit access to affordable healthcare, to roll back environmental protections or to promote policies that restrict economic growth for the middle class.”
Prior to representing the Central Coast in the U.S. House of Representatives, Carbajal served as Santa Barbara County’s First District Supervisor. He led legislative efforts to assess the needs of the most vulnerable in our community, protect and improve the quality of local water sources, as well as to develop comprehensive solutions to address regional transportation issues.
Rep. Carbajal will represent the 24th District in Congress, including the entirety of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties, and a portion of Ventura County.
